On the twenty second day of April 2007 the Morant Bay District of churches launched a major evangelistic programme under the theme “The way of the Cross” with Evangelist Noel Jumpp (snr.).

This was a major combine effort which involved participation from the following churches;

  1. Morant Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church
  2. Wilmington Seventh-day Adventist Church
  3. Prospect Seventh-day Adventist Church
  4. Johnstown Seventh-day Adventist Church
  5. Spring Gardens Seventh-day Adventist Church
  6. Needham Pen Seventh-day Adventist Church
  7. White Horses Seventh-day Adventist Church

After six weeks of soul stirring sermons over one hundred persons gave their lives to Jesus and demonstrated their faith in water baptism. Approximately thirty persons were baptized from in and around the Morant, Cottage Pen and Duhaney Pen area.

The decision was taken to plant a church in the area at the end of the Campaign and efforts were early in place to locate a proper location for the new congregation. After a long search permission was given for the New Believers to use the Paul Bogle High School Recourse Centre as the place of worship. Pastor Linton Hamilton who worked as a Bible Instructor during the crusade and then served as the Associate Pastor under Pastor Adrian Johnson was put in charge of the Company and Sister Joy Powell (the then First Elder’s wife) was asked to shepherd the children and youth.

Despite the effort to have the New Believers worshipping together many of them went to worship at the Mother Church at Morant Bay. The Members who were part of the first congregational sitting of the Company were;

  1. Pastor Adrian Johnson
  2. Pastor Linton Hamilton
  3. Sister Joy Powell
  4. Sister Bridgette Thompson
  5. Sis Deloris Jeffery
  6. Sister Tanya Garnett and Family
  7. Sister Jassette Hanson andFamily
  8. Brother Douce Hamilton and Family
  9. Sister Lorainey Counsel
  10. Sister Chris-Ann Counsel
  11. Sister Sharma Finch
  12. Sister Candice Finch
  13. Brother Antan Finch
  14. Brother Natwan Finch
  15. Brother Bailey
  16. Brother Trevor
  17. Brother Daniel Manderson
  18. Sister Roxann Johnson
  19. Sister Herma Johnson

Pastor Hamilton was present for every Wednesday and Sunday night meeting and had to conduct the various programmes of the Church from start to finish from Sabbath School to Vespers.

The Macedonia call was made and the Mother Church (Morant Bay SDA) answered the call. Various officers were placed on rotation to ease the burden and train the New Believers.

Later that year the Nominating Committee of the Morant Bay Church nominated Elder Freddie Bingham to replace Pastor Hamilton and lead the Company into 2008.

Elder Bingham served the Company for two years. The Company grew under the leadership of Elder Bingham and members were added to the Church. He introduced a lunch programme which eliminated the need for members and visitors to leave after the Divine Service.  The programme immediately improved the attendance of the Afternoon Service.

Bible Classes were designed to assist the New Believers to better understand the will of God for their lives and Adventist Youth programme exchange were conducted between the Spring Garden’s Church and the New Company.

 Ill health interrupted Elder Bingham’s tenure at the New Company and Brother Delroy Miller was asked to serve in the interim as leader of the Company in 2011.

At the Nominating Committee meeting in November 2011 Elder Basil Powell was asked to assumed leadership of the Company with effect from January 2012.
